The discipline and determination within the team that oversees the smooth running of the Live and Direct Open Mic Sessions is amazing to witness, as they each possess individual gifts within the different spheres of the and yet still come together to work for one goal: empowering the local artist. Artists who make use of this platform not only grow their confidence through developing a stage presence, but also get a chance to perform for a different audience which inevitably result in the of a new fan base for the artist.
With the Open Mic Sessions taking place every second Friday of every month, Artists sign up at the venue an hour before the show starts. Each artist is allowed to perform a single song, with the audience then deciding whether they can perform a second song or not. This in turn challenges the artist to practise and deliver to the best of their ability each time on they take to the stage.
Our last Audition of the Open Mic Sessions took place on 12 August 2022, which was in celebration of South African Women's day (9 August). The guest artist line was an exclusive all female affair as the ladies came in guns blazing with beautiful sounds and floral smells.
Live and Direct Open Mic Sessions celebrates it's 6th month of successful shows, having hosted its first session on 31 March 2022. The numbers are continuing to grow and the success is undoubtedly visible.
Participant have shown great interest and enthusiasm by returning to every session to utilize the platform and better their craft.
MCees have come in numbers while vocalist and poets have also taken advantage of this wonderful platform and opportunity. Live and Direct Open Mic Sessions has truly become a home for artists who are looking to advance in the Arts and Culture industry and we look forward to more shows and events from these talented young minds.
