Meet the Artists

B-Ref
B-Ref

Sakhumuzi Ndeleni, professionally known as B-Ref, is an artist, producer and sound engineer that was born in Ngqamakhwe, Eastern Cape.

He was introduced to music at the tender age of six by his late mother who was a teacher and choir conductor. B-Ref was involved in music throughout his primary schooling in East London, from singing in choirs to entering singing competitions. While in primary school, a friend of his gave him a copy of Eminem’s show which was his official introduction to hip hop music. Inspired by Eminem’s insane rap lines, B-Ref stopped singing and started writing his own rap songs. He has since been making music with his childhood friends Khanyisa “Ken-B” Bengeza and Kusasalethu “Kuss Diverse” Ngalo.

Qualified in Sound Production and Sound Engineering, B-Ref is one of the men behind making sure this body of work is of superior quality. Not only is he the executive producer, but he is also in charge of the overall additional production, mixing and mastering of this compilation. He also takes to showcase his rap skills in the song In Time, alongside LanceRomeo & Kuss Diverse.

Yanga Gani, whose stage name is Gani-Y, is a 29-year-old producer and songwriter from Port Shepstone, Kwazulu-Natal.

His musical journey began in high school where he developed an interest in the recording and production of music, and while living in Durban in 2011, he made like-minded friends and started making music with his flatmate. This is when his passion for music was ignited. When he later struggled to find a producer, who could create the sound he was looking for, he sought to learn to make his own beats. Determined to succeed, Gani-Y enrolled at Creative Arts College and studied Music Production and Sound Engineering.

He currently resides in Johannesburg where he continues to perfect his craft. In 2019, he released a mixtape titled ‘Everything is Beautiful’ in which he produced, wrote, recorded, mixed, and mastered himself. The mixtape gained him new fans, as a few of his singles received airplay at various stations around the country. In this compilation he offers praise to The Most High with a song titled Holy, which is a self-produced, mixed and mastered anthem that can get everyone lit.
